  • Cannabinoids Cancer Treatments

    Patients are always asking about how cannabis can help or alleviate their symptoms related to cancer. There is research showing that cannabis can alleviate many symptoms associated with a variety of different cancers.

                           

    Many cancer patients suffer from symptoms such as insomnia, anxiety, chronic pain, nausea or a poor appetite. Cannabis has been shown in some studies to alleviate many of these symptoms. It is important that you have an expert helping you in using cannabis to guide your treatment with specific products or specific methods of delivery.

    When it comes to treating cancer specifically with cannabis, there is a growing interest in this area. However, the evidence to date does not support the use of cannabis for the actual treatment of cancer. A local Urologist  TO is a great place to start in your information quest for Prostate Cancer.  While it is a very interesting area and some companies are looking at studying this, it is still far too early to recommend cannabis as a treatment for cancer itself. The evidence at this point really only supports the use of cannabis for the alleviation of symptoms.

    In relation to breast cancer, many patients undergo surgery, radiation or chemotherapy to help cure or treat their breast cancer. Unfortunately, some of the side effects of these treatments can leave patients with chronic pain, specifically nerve pain, and they can also have a number of other symptoms such as insomnia or anxiety around the diagnosis.     Cannabinoids can be an option to treat some of these symptoms from the treatments of cancer, for example CBD or THC in certain dosages may be helpful for nerve pain that is typically experienced with certain chemotherapy agents. Side effects as well such as weight loss or appetite suppression when using chemotherapy sometimes are alleviated with a certain mixture of cannabis products. Often seeing a local family physician for a referral to a Psychiatrist, psychologist or a councilor    in conjunction with a registered dietitian  is a great option to take control of this condition. Smart Food Now and exercise is also optominal for overall health.
